Deb & Frank's 10th Anniversary Party

What to expect

Our hope is that our celebration will be a unique and joyful experience for everyone there. We would love everyone to contribute to the celebration however they like. And we hope you each take something special away with you.

This particular group of individuals has never been assembled before and never will again. We will all give and take our unique energy--adding to the scene. We are very excited to have you be a part of it!

Camping
There is a beautiful grassy meadow with ample space for tents. We are hoping most of our friends will end up here (for the late night fun). There are no fires in the camping area, but there are several fire circles designed into the grounds throughout.

In the center of the meadow is a bath house with showers, bathrooms, a kitchen and even laundry.

Campers will also have access to the wood-fired sauna. Bring instruments, frisbees and --for the love of God-- hulahoops!

There's a camping fee of $25 per tent. Chinook will charge us based on the number of campers. Please be sure to make a reservation with us if you plan on camping.

What to Bring
Nights are getting cooler, and anything is possible when camping in the Northwest. We suggest bringing comfortable walking shoes, and WARM clothes so you can explore the beautiful groomed walking paths. In general, we suggest clothes that won't stop you from sitting on a rock around the fire, etc.  Remember a flashlight for finding your way after dark (Aint no streetlights in these parts...).

The Place

Many of you were there 10 years ago when we first started this journey. Click here to visit our original wedding website (complete with photos and vintage information).

For those of you who have not been to Chinook, The Whidbey Institute is located in the center of the south end of Whidbey Island on a hundred acres of forest and meadowland. This land is protected for future generations by conservation easements backed by the Whidbey-Camano Land Trust.

The original buildings, a turn-of-the century Finnish farmstead with its old-world character, blended with new buildings. The land, with its fields, forest, wetlands, and extensive network of trails, engenders a spirit of thoughtful inquiry, contemplation, and renewal. This Center is called "Chinook." Please plan to take some time during the weekend to take a sweat in the wood-fired sauna, walk the trails, and of course, smell the flowers.

Lend a Hand

We are working to make this weekend something special for us all to share. Many have expressed an interest in helping us make our celebration special. We’d love your help!

There will be many tasks to do from decorating the hall to helping in the kitchen, and everything in between. We also know there will be many unexpected things that come up.

Please contact us ahead of time if you know you would like to help with one or more of the following:

  • Bring an appetizer, salad, side dish for the Saturday dinner
  • Help with decorating Saurday afternoon
  • Help prepare food Saturday
  • Help prepare food Sunday
  • Help with cleanup Sunday
