Tax Planning for Business Fall 2019

Tax Planning for Business:

Have you ever been surprised about what you owe the IRS come tax time? This workshop will teach you ways to eliminate unwelcome surprises by knowing what your tax bill is likely to be, and help you identify ways to create a budget ahead of time. We’ll also discuss ways businesses can reduce the amount of taxes they owe, and how those tax savings can be harvested by business owners.

Mark Goodson, CPA at Carol L. King & Associates, PA. Accounting and taxes are in Mark’s DNA. For him, it’s all in the family - his father, grandfather, aunt, uncle, sister, son and daughter are all accountants or tax return preparers. Getting his start preparing tax returns as a teenager at his family's Winston-Salem tax and accounting firm, Mark has been fascinated with business, finance and taxes all his life. He earned a BS in Accounting at Guilford College and an MBA in Finance from Georgia State University. Mark then spent 30 years working as a Chief Financial Officer and Controller with major banks and securities firms around the state before coming to the mountains five years ago with his wife Annie and children Katie and William. His experience includes general accounting, managing accounts payable and accounts receivable, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting. When not crunching numbers, Mark enjoys gardening and is interested in North Carolina's geography, geology and culture.

Don Nalley, Accountant at Carol L King & Associates, PA. A wiz with Excel, Don loves to slice and dice numbers to help his clients.  An Asheville native, Don has a Masters of Accountancy degree from the Muma College of Business at the University of South Florida, along with over 8 years of experience as an accountant and auditor. In college, Don fell in love with accounting and changed his major after aceing his first class because it clicked with him. After 3 years as an auditor, Don decided to change direction and use his skills to help small businesses grow. Since joining the CLK Team, he has rediscovered his love for accounting along with a passion to help people realize their financial goals. Don believes in being active in the community and enjoys camping and playing sports, especially baseball and football.
