The Connecticut Mirror presents its Second Education Forum

Perspectives on Connecticut's           Achievement Gap


The forum will address the academic achievement gap that has plagued Connecticut policymakers for decades, and will bring together those who study the gap and those most affected by it.

Event Program to include:

  • Moderator- Diane Orson, WNPR
  • Keynote speaker- Attorney John C. Brittain, Professor of Law at the University of the District of Columbia, and one of the lawyers who litigated Connecticut’s landmark Sheff v. O’Neill lawsuit
  • Orlando Rodriguez, Senior Policy Fellow, Connecticut Voices for Children
  • Kristen Record, Teacher at Stratford’s Bunnell High, 2011 Connecticut Teacher of the Year
  • Panel of Students from high schools around the state                                          These students began their academic lives under the cloud of the achievement gap. We want to hear their voices.

Questions from the audience will be encouraged.
