WELCOME to the official webpage of the 7th Annual Conference: Breast Cancer & African Americans (BCAA)!  The Stanford Cancer Institute Community Partnership Program (SCI-CPP)  is pleased to host
a special community event focused on eliminating breast cancer disparities in African American populations
in the Greater SF Bay Area and surrounding communities through the dissemination of high quality, timely
and culturally-tailored health information and resources. Join us for an informative dialogue with clinicians, health professionals, researchers, cancer survivors, caregivers, advocates, and other key stakeholders in the African American community. We have a wonderful lineup of expert speakers and sessions covering the spectrum of breast health and cancer including, but not limited to breast self-awareness; breast cancer risk; early detection; nutrition; physical activity; treatment and clinical trials research; survivorship; and advocacy. 

The target audience for this event is African American women (age 18+) of any health status, as well as cancer patients and survivors.  In addition, we welcome attendance by family members, caregivers, friends, community advocates, clinicians, health care professionals, and researchers.

We are honored to have Karen Winkfield, MD, PhD, a radiation oncologist at Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center who also holds joint distinctions as the Director of the Office of Cancer Health Equity and Associate Director for Cancer Health Equity as this year's Keynote Speaker! Dr. Winkfield is a nationally recognized leader in health equity and workforce diversity and is a graduate of Duke University's Medical Scientist Training Program where she is the 2nd black woman to graduate from the MD/PhD dual degree program.

There is NO COST TO ATTEND this event, but registration (online or by mail only) is required.  Deadline to register is April 25. Registration will include a light breakfast, lunch, keynote presentation and lectures, health exhibits/resources, entertainment, networking opportunities, and much, much more!  We ask that you please do not bring children or minors under the age of 18 and non-service pets to this event due to limited seating.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be available for Registered Nurses, and other health professionals including Social Workers and Community Health Education Specialists (CHES). 4 CEU hours will be provided by our partners, the Bay Area Black Nurses' Association, approved by stated BRN #CEP 9053. To receive CEUs, you must be registered for the event and attend the entire program to receive full CE credit.
