Leighanna Light

I am a passionate art instructor, thingmaker, bookmaker, figurative assemblage artist and recovering perfectionist! My background is in fine arts and photography and I’ve been teaching art workshops for the past 20 years at art retreats in the US. I develop my classes by playing, making a mess, making “mistakes” and I can’t think of any better way to live and make a living. I love to create, to hunt for things to create with & to share my creativity with others.  It’s what I live for, it’s my oxygen.

I grew up in a small town in upstate New York and I have spent most of the past 20 years in New Mexico. I am so lucky to live in Taos, the mountains of Northern New Mexico, with my best friends Thomas, Peetie, Ruby, Lily and Hairy.

Peetie's Book with Leighanna Light

TangleU Productions is excited to bring Leighanna Light to the online studio once again! This time she will guide you through an exciting canvas book project.  Leighanna describes this wonderful project below. I hope you can join us!

PEETIE’S BOOK, Metal transfers and surface design on canvas

I spent a good part of this long year creating special handmade books to honor the important people, fur babies and memories that have been a such an important part of my life, and I would love to teach you how to do the same!

In this workshop I will share multiple techniques to help you create this gorgeous keepsake and substantial canvas book using the theme of your choice.
I will teach you how to create stunning metal transfers and how to cold connect your transfers to pages without using glue. You will learn simple bookbinding skills as well as a variety of collage and surface design techniques using gesso, ink & paint to create beautiful textures, colors and surfaces.

The final book will be approximately 9” x 7” with at least 6 metal transfers and 20 writing surfaces. Your registration confirmation includes the link to our Private Facebook Group where you can upload pictures for feedback, talk with Leighanna and other participants and generally have a good time!

I look forward to sharing this process with you!

*This is a labor intensive project with multiple techniques, an extensive supply list and even a little bit of homework. Please be aware that it will be a significant investment of time, energy and money to create this special keepsake.
In other words, this is not a day hike!

Please read the supply list before registering. Click for supply list PDF  If you have taken a class with me in the past, chances are that you will already have most of the supplies. If you are new and don’t have a lot of supplies please check the list first, as you will need everything on the list to create this book.

There is a special private Facebook group for this class. The link is included the confirmation email sent after registration.
