Not My Type! Getting Along with Difficult Coworkers and Family Members

Why do people behave the way they do?!

  • Have you ever been irritated in a meeting by someone who talks too much?
  • What about others who refuse to offer an opinion?
  • Are you exasperated by a partner who insists on planning every detail of every venture?
  • Do you wonder why your child imagines things that don't really exist?

Communication is fundamental to healthy relationships, and communication skills depend on knowing who we’re communicating with—their style and preferences.

If you’re frustrated with a coworker, it may be that you and your coworker take in information, make decisions, or manage energy differently. If every conversation with a family member ends in heated debate, it could be that the way you approach them is not a style they’re comfortable with.

Using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and some fun aikido activities, Judy Ringer and Chris Olex will help you take an educated look at the personality preferences that drive your behavior and those of your coworkers, friends or family.  You’ll leave the workshop with heightened awareness, new wisdom and concrete skills to apply them.

Outcomes:

  1. Reduce frustration and build stronger relationships by appreciating style similarities and differences.
  2. Learn how knowing your type helps you understand why you do what you do and others do what they do.
  3. Define the variety of behavior preferences available to yourself and others.
  4. Leave with a better understanding of your current relationships.

Who Should Attend?
  • Sales and marketing personnel interested in learning how to better achieve their goals through more effective interaction with clients, customers, and coworkers.
  • Individuals who want to understand why the phrase “oil and water” seems relevant in some relationships and how knowing their own style will help.
  • Team and family members curious about how to more effectively interact with each other.
  • Consultants and HR professionals interested in learning about the MBTI model and how it works in order to help others.
  • Leaders who want to help themselves and their teams to move through difficultly and conflict.
