The University of Michigan Congenital Heart Center is pleased to announce the 2012 Joint Conference on Advances in Pediatric Cardiovascular Disease.  The Joint Conference is co-sponsored by The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, and rotates between the three institutions each year.  This year’s conference will feature speakers from as far as South Africa and the United Kingdom, speaking not only on specific challenging heart lesions, but also other important topics such as the business of medicine and the interaction of government and healthcare.  There will be sessions dedicated specifically to nurses, fellows-in-training and others personnel instrumental in the care of the patient with congenital heart disease.

Goals

This conference will address a variety of knowledge gaps, with the overarching goal of improving the care of the patient with congenital heart disease.  Examples of specific topics address new diagnostic and treatment options for patients with congenital heart lesions and the latest techniques for transitioning adolescent patients to self-care.

Learning Objective

Our participants will know the most up-to-date methods of treatment and diagnosis of congenital heart patients and will be able to implement the newly gained knowlesge in their current practice.

Target Audience

This activity is intended for Pediatric Cardiologists, Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeons, Cardiac Nurses, Perfusionists and other healthcare professionals who treat children with complex heart diseases.

CME Credits

The University of Michigan Medical School is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The University of Michigan Medical School designates this live activity for a maximum of 13.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Wine Tour/Tasting Old Mission Peninsula

wine

Taste the wines and discover the pristine beauty of the Old Mission Peninsula and its world-class wineries.  Old Mission Peninsula is an internationally recognized wine grow region. Like many of the world's great appellations they are located on the 45th parallel. Distinction, however, comes from the surrounding deep water of Grand Traverse Bay.  While traveling from winery to winery your group will be stunned by the breathtaking scenery!

Suggested Attire –weather permitting a casual and light jacket (cameras are highly recommended)

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Tourdunes

Why climb the dunes when you can enjoy the Pierce Stocking driving tour.  It provides the visitor with insight to the history of the area, a sampling of the vegetative communities found within the park and, best of all, spectacular overlooks of the Glen Lakes, the Sleeping Bear Dunes and Lake Michigan.

A picture cannot describe what you'll see, so I guess you'll just have to visit the park and see for yourself.

Suggested Attire – casual and light jacket sweatshirt and walking shoes – (cameras are a must for this activity)
