Upper New York Conference Pre-retirement Workshop

There will be one Pre-Retirement Seminar held in October to highlight and explain the benefits available through The United Methodist Church to retiring clergy. This seminar is intended to assist persons in their later years of ministry to understand the current pension plan, health insurance options, Social Security, and moving assistance available.

All visitors to the Conference Office must provide proof of vaccine upon entry. Those that have not been to the conference office since these procedures have been in place, must bring proof of vaccination with them to the meeting. If an attendee cannot provide proof of vaccination, the attendee must wear a mask at all times except for being seated while eating and/or drinking.

ONLINE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED … as we will provide clergy-specific retirement projections, and also need to plan for lunch.

Robert Christophel, Manager of Benefits Education from Wespath Pension & Health Benefits, will be presenting on the denominational plans and a Social Security overview. Julie Valeski, UNY Benefits Administrator, will be presenting on health insurance options and moving policies.

A limited number of personal consultations with Mr. Christophel will be available on a first-registered first-served basis. Personal pension projections will be discussed but these consultations are limited to 15-20 minutes and are, therefore, general in nature. You may indicate your desire for a consultation on the online registration form.

Lunch will be provided and spouses are welcome to attend. These events are sponsored by the Conference Board of Pension & Health Benefits through the generosity of our local churches’ ministry share giving.
