Exiting Your Business - Simple Steps

Lunch & Learn Series

The statistics on businesses surviving through multiple generations are not good. Just making it through the second generation is a milestone. The good news is business owners can buck these trends with proper planning. Simple Steps for Exiting Your Business, a 3 part program, will help business owners plan for the next stage of their business and their lives.

Session 1: Feb 20th. Succession Planning. This section begins by helping entrepreneurs understand the steps to planning for the eventual transfer of their business, choosing and preparing the appropriate successor, and having it all in writing. At the end of this section, you should be prepared for a variety of business exit strategies – both voluntary and involuntary.

Session 2: March 20th. Retirement Planning. Once business owners have determined their exit strategy and their business’ worth, they can start focusing on the next steps in their own lives. In this section, issues that arise when the business is the retirement plan are discussed and ways to save utilizing assets outside the business are identified.

Session 3: April 26th. Estate Planning: This section gets into discussing multiple future planning scenarios, including the difference between estate reduction, liquidity and equalization, and the planning documents needed to leave a lasting legacy. It is never too early to start planning ahead.

Renee’ is a trusted Advisor that provides wealth planning to Cross-Border and US Entrepreneurs and Families. She is a national speaker and educator who frequently teaches other professionals on the topics of US and International Taxation, Asset Protection, Entrepreneurship, Estate Planning, Wealth Management, and Investment topics including International considerations of cross-border investing, mergers & acquisitions and due diligence.

As Senior Vice President and Wealth Advisor at Wells Fargo Private Bank, Renee' managed a portfolio of over $500M in assets. Prior to that she was the VP, Regulated Sales Manager at HSBC and then promoted to VP, Premier International Wealth Management to develop a new business proposition and lead a team of specialists working with Executive Leadership from five countries to create a Financial Planning Platform for multi-country launch. Her experience with international clients has taken her to multiple countries in Europe, Asia, and South America to work with clients on how to properly position themselves with their investments in the United States and throughout the world.
