NOMINATING INSTRUCTIONS

Nominations for induction into the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame Foundation, Inc. (Hall of Fame) can be submitted by college/university, national alumni associations, or organizations meeting Hall of Fame criteria.

Complete the Nomination Form in its entirety. Consideration will only be given to nominees with completed forms. (NO EXCEPTIONS).

Limit each nomination to one category per form. Submit a separate form for each nomination.

The Selection Committee will make its recommendations based solely on information provided on the Nomination Form. Resumes and biographical sketches can be submitted as supporting documentation but will not be considered as an official nomination.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION

INSTITUTIONS/ORGANIZATIONS

The nominating institution must be a recognized Historically Black College or University (HBCU) or Predominately Black Institution (PBI), as defined by NAFEO.

The nominating organization must be one that has a history of promoting the advancement of the Black community, culturally, economically or educationally, and have a working relationship with an HBCU or PBI.

Nominations are limited to one (1) nominee per category per institution/organization.

The maximum number of inductees selected from any on institution is limited to two (2) per year.

NOMINEES:

Must be nominated in one of the following categories: Arts; Athletics; Business; Civil Rights; Community Service; Education; Entertainment; Faith; Government; Industry; Law; Lifetime Achievement; Medicine; Science; Theology.

Must be a graduate or former student of a recognized HBCU/PBI.

Must be a current dues paying member of the nominating institution's national alumni association or (comparable body).

Must have made significant contributions to the growth and development of the nomination institution, or HBCUs and PBIs in general

Must be a ten year alumnus of an HBCU or PBI, or the nominee’s freshman class must have graduated at least ten years prior.

Must have a history of making significant contributions in his/her professional field.

Special consideration will be given by the Selection Committee to those individuals who have made a major contribution to higher education for Blacks, but are not graduates or former students of an HBCU/PBI when nominated by one of the recognized institutions.
