Union groundbreaking for fiber optic broadband on June 27

Please join Union as we kickoff our regional fiber-fed broadband project that will connect Sublette, Sweetwater, and Lincoln counties and La Barge, Marbleton, Big Piney, Pinedale, Farson, and Eden to Union’s regional 100GB fiber network.

Once the network is in place, it will greatly benefit connected communities in terms of economic development, across a broad range of health care services, and will provide improved access to educational opportunities.

Benefits of fiber

Fiber lines in service are buried underground, providing for a constant throughput of data, making outages far less likely than other types of service.

Delivering broadband to a community over a fiber ring provides multi-path redundancy lowers the risk of an outage. Fiber, the size of single human hair, can carry far more data at much greater speeds – literally at the speed of light.

By delivering broadband service the creation and support of great places to live and spaces to work commercial districts can attract new businesses and new ideas, thus contributing directly to the development of the local entrepreneurship ecosystem.
