Writing A Winning Business Plan


A step-by-step 2.5 hour workshop that arms each participant with the fundamentals on how to write an effective and winning business plan. This is useful for anyone in the process of starting a new business or for someone who started a new business in the past couple years. It also discusses the importance of the Business Plan, how to tailor it to the audience it's being presented to, and how SCORE will assist you as you develop your plan through free one-on-one mentoring.

This workshop will be interactive, and each participant will perform a number of exercises that will assist him or her to develop their own winning business plan. The workshop content will include the following:

  • Why do you need a business plan
  • What your business plan needs to include
  • The importance of the Executive Summary & what must be included
  • Making the plan shorter & more dynamic
  • Suggestions on developing the required financial projections & making them realistic
  • Critiquing a fictional business plan
  • Reviewing a modified successful business plan
  • The real truth about who reads business plans & how they evaluate them
  • Review available templates to assist in preparation of your Business Plan
  • Participate in an exercise to prepare a Business Plan using a suggested model proven to be successful with banks, investors, and business managers.  

Owning your own business is one of the classic American dreams; if you are committed to taking your new or existing venture to the next level, then having a winning Business Plan is essential, and this workshop will send you on your way to having a Plan tailored to your individual needs, and not one based on some generic template.

Presentors: Bob Bloom & Adrian Salee

Bob Bloom is co-founder and vice president and chief operating officer of INK & TONER USA, LLC, a highly successful retail store launched in 2004 and headquartered in West Palm Beach. Bob has degrees in environmental engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, secondary education from Hofstra University, and computer systems from Florida Atlantic University, and has an extensive background in education, product marketing, business plan training, and sales training. He proudly serves on the Board of Directors of the International Imaging Technology Council and the Advisory Board of Keiser University’s Business Department. Bob has previously served on the Advisory Board of the IT Academy at Palm Beach Central High School and on the Board of Directors of the Palms West Chamber of Commerce.

Adrian Salee is an experienced general management consultant serving companies in a wide range of industries & organizational types over a more than 40 year business career. He also plans, writes, and implements needed computer software to formalize his consulting recommendations into working management operational tools. He is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with an BME, and has an MBA from NYU in Management & Accounting. Mr. Salee was Chapter Chair of SCORE West Palm Beach from 2009 through 2011, and is the author of several books and white papers on various management topics.
