The St. Vincent-St. Mary Parent Ambassadors invite you to support the second annual STVM James Burdon 5k Run and Walk to be held on August 31, 2019 in the memory of the late Jim Burdon, a long-time supporter of STVM.  Through his unwavering commitment to STVM and the Akron community, Jim leaves behind a legacy that will be remembered for generations.  

Giving back to his community was a high priority for Jim—as evidenced by the countless pro bono cases he worked as one of the area’s top defense attorneys and his more than forty years as a CYO basketball coach. In addition to his volunteer work, he funded numerous scholarships for local youth and was a staunch supporter of STVM, serving on both the Executive and Foundation Boards. He was instrumental in the creation of the STVM Parent/Student Ambassadors Program whose mission is to help STVM, its students, families, and community continue to flourish and grow stronger. During one of his final conversations with his grandchildren, he shared with them his belief that, “This process is about strength and destiny,” and it is with those words in mind we are working to honor his legacy.
