  Discover the online resources available to you 

   This one-day workshop will introduce particpants to Indiana's free digital resources that are readily available online and how to use these resources effectively.  Resources discussed will include Indiana Memory, the Indiana Digital Archives, INSPIRE, and the Indiana State Data Center, a resource for U. S. Census information.  A computer lab will be available for hands-on exsperience with individual resources. 

    Keynote Speakers

     Andrew Mink is the Director of Outreach and Education for the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia, was named National Educator of the Year in 2003 by the National Society for Experimental Education.  He has authored and implemented nine Teaching American History projects in the state of Virginia and is currently registered as a Master Teacher with the National Council of History Education in their Distiquished Speaker Program.

      David Bodenhamer is the Director of The Polis Center, a unit of the Indiana University School of Liberal Arts at Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis.  The Polis Center excels in the creative use of information technology, especially geographic information systems, to address social, cultural, and economic development issues within individual communities.  

Registration deadline is June 10, 2011.   The first 25 K-12 educators who register will receive a scholarship to cover the registration costs.

This workshop is made possible by the Indiana State Library through a Library Services and Technology Act grant made available from the Institute for Museum and Library Services awarded to the Friends of the Indiana State Archives, Inc.  Partnering organizations are the Indiana Historical Bureau, the Indiana Council for History Education, the Indiana State Archives, and The POLIS Center at IUPUI.
