Learn how to create your own unique Hogwarts, or Capitol, or Middle Earth, by establishing a believable setting, culture, and history for your characters. Explore magic and technology, identify allies and enemies, draw your own map, and learn how to work your world details seamlessly into your writing.
12:30 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. - Geoffrey Girard
Point of View (POV)
Narrative Point of View is the most important element of storytelling. The decision of “Who” is telling your story sets the Tone, drives the Plot, and has full control over your readers’ experience from the very first sentence. But choosing between First, Second or Third person is only the start. A writer’s POV options include fascinating questions of When, Why and How and take into account the full range of your POVs’ true identity. A workshop led by Geoffrey Girard, who has an MA in Creative Writing and has sold more than sixty speculative stories; most recently CAIN’S BLOOD and PROJECT CAIN to Simon & Schuster.
