We have a full day event planned, learning about how other utilities have handled a number of different topics, lessons learned and what we should be planning for in our own organizations.

8:45 Innovative Ideas in Job Sharing, Lauren Coleman and Mike Helland. Learn how a change in management structure is working, that had a single general manager now has a two member management team, one in the office and one in the field.
9:15 Succession Planning Through Knowledge Capture, Aleksandra Gancheva, and Shannon Wennblom. Learn how a utility is facing the challenge of aging workforce and the risk of loss of institutional knowledge, especially by those key positions that are managed by sole performers.

10:30 IT Panel, Krista Bautista, Tammy Whipple, Kevin Presler. Examples of how three utilities handle their technological changes that offer both the promise of efficiencies but can also bring cultural and organizational challenges.

1:00 Rebuilding a District to be Resilient, Tom Hastings. Hear how a utility that was in financial, management facility distress is transforming itself and its relations within the District and with outside stakeholders.
2:00 Communications. Challenges. Culture. Dan Sleeth and Sally Mohr. Learn how staff identified improvement opportunities to move their utility from good to great in face of the many challenges that may affect the ability to deliver a reliable supply of clean and safe water.

3:15 How to Develop Leadership Skills, Randy Black. Real life examples and suggestions on ways to prepare and help determine if a candidate really understands what it means and takes to become a successful supervisor or manager.
