Theater critics worldwide have praised Bill W. and Dr. Bob, the play about the founding of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), "as an expertly told, universally compelling story about the triumph of the human spirit."

The show continues to break box office records and brings a whole new community into the theater: the broad diversity of people in recovery, and their families and friends, "from Yale to jail."

The New York Times calls it "an insightful new play," and The New Yorker describes it as "an endearing portrait of friendship uplifted by warm humor." Variety says the play is, "deeply human and audience-embracing." The Boston Globe deems it "inspiring" and "a textured, truthful telling of AA's story."
