Presenting on  
"Eating Disorders: Path from Primary Care and Beyond"

Course Abstract:

Eating disorders in childhood and teen years is increasing at an alarming rate. With focus on the childhood obesity message, the messages surrounding healthy eating and exercise can sometimes create unhealthy patterns around these behaviors. Primary care doctors are often the first to address these issues with their patients and the families. Understanding how to identify eating disorders and how to collaborate with a treatment team will be the primary objective of this presentation.

Course Objectives:

  1. Discuss developing a treatment team, levels of care for eating disorders.
  2. Learn about the DSM-5 definitions of various categories of disordered eating.
  3. Understand the risk factors of eating disorders.
  4. Review the history, physical and lab findings.


This course meets the qualifications for 1 hour continuing education credit for MFT's, LPCC's, LEP's, and/or LCSW's required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) provider number - PCE5216

This course meets the qualifications for 1 hour continuing education credit for addiction professionals required by the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) provider number - 130835.
