Presenting on "Sex Addiction 101: How to tell if your client is a sex addict, and what to do next"

Course Abstract:

Based on 23 years of working exclusively with sex addicts and their partners, Sharon O’Hara, MFT, will discuss how sex addiction can be considered “a real addiction”. How to tell if a client you are working with might have sexual addiction problems. What community resources (12-Step groups) are available to sex addicts and how they differ. How to handle your personal feelings as a therapist (countertransference) and what to do if someone tells you they have looked at illegal pornography. 

Course Objectives:

1. Learn at least 3 ways that sex addiction is like other addictions.
2. Be able to identify at least four 12-Step sexual recovery organizations and be able to discuss 3 philosophical differences.
3. Be able to administer and discuss the G-SAST assessment for sexual addiction.
4. Understand the new CA law AB1775 and its impact on therapist confidentiality.
