Course Abstract:

An educational opportunity to explore the effects of childhood sexual abuse for men. Participants will learn the difficulties men experience due to the messages they receive in childhood regarding being strong, protective and not showing vulnerability. Investigating the correlation of hurt and shame and the use of drugs and alcohol.

 Course Objectives:

1. Gain knowledge regarding the effects of sexual abuse for men abused as children.
2. Insight into treatment modalities to help men process their feelings.
3. Understand why men have difficulty discussing their trauma.
4. Bring greater awareness of the severity of this epidemic.
5. Clarify reasons why men don’t tell.

This course meets the qualifications for 1 hour continuing education credit for addiction professionals required by the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) provider number - 130835.

Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider number CEP16424, for 1 Contact Hour.
