2018 Crime and Gang Prevention Summit  

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the City of San Jose, we would like to invite you to attend the Crime and Gang Prevention Summit sponsored by the Mayor's Gang Prevention Task Force. The purpose of this summit is to promote and encourage partnerships among residents, the City of San Jose, and local community-based organizations to build a safer and more vibrant city.

The summit will feature informational workshops, a community resource fair, children’s activities*, and a free lunch for participants. Workshop topics include:

  • Gang Awareness 102: An in-depth perspective of gang impacts
  • The Dangers and Pitfalls of Social Media from a Youth Perspective
  • Gang Awareness 101: Realities of being in a gang, common indicators, and intervention efforts
  • Gender Responsive Model: Responding proactively to emerging gang trends involving females
  • Gun Safety and Violence Prevention
  • Police/ Community Relations: Building community through accountability
