Export Business Workshop: Growing Your Sales Internationally 

 

Small businesses looking to increase sales and profit, reduce dependence on the domestic market and stabilize seasonal fluctuations should consider exporting.  With nearly 96 percent of consumers living outside the U.S. and two-thirds of the world’s purchasing power in foreign countries, opportunities await U.S. small business. Go where the customers are. There is a significant opportunity for small businesses to profit from exporting operations. Do you have what it takes to become a successful international business? Are you ready to make international sales? Exporting offers great opportunities but requires preparation and planning. 

The workshop will help you gain the knowledge to develop and implement an international plan. You will become acquainted with the key components of an effective export plan.  The workshop will also raise questions you should answer to complete your plan and provide the resources to help you answer those questions.  

This workshop will discuss:

  • Organizational and product readiness,
  • Market research,
  • Guidance for developing your strategy and marketing plan,
  • Promoting your products in target market, 
  • Complying with US and foreign regulations, and
  • Getting Set-up for Trade Financing and other financings

Alale Allal, Regional Export Finance Manager Office of International Trade U.S. Small Business Administration presents this workshop.  He is the Regional Export Trade Finance Manager for the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Office of International Trade, covering most of Texas and all of Oklahoma.  Alale oversees the daily demands of both, lenders and small businesses for these markets.  He is responsible for responding to export finance issues and for also being proactive in providing lender and small business training. 
Linda Williams serves as an Economic Development Specialist with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).  Over the 15 years with SBA she has held positions in lending, lender relations and economic development.  Prior to joining SBA she held marketing and development positions in the publishing and health care industries. She earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Dallas Baptist University where she taught as an adjunct professor in the undergraduate business program. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing from the University of Texas at Arlington.  She is well known for her workshops and webinars for small business owners and those who are contemplating entrepreneurship.
Jessica Gordon is the Director of the U.S. Department of Commerce’s U.S. Commercial Service Dallas-Fort Worth Office and is a co-presenter of this workshop.  She leads a team of industry-focused international trade specialists to assist small to medium-sized North Texas companies to grow their businesses through launching an export business or increasing their sales in target markets around the globe.  The Commercial Service Dallas-Fort Worth office is one of 100 plus U.S. Commercial Service offices around the nation dedicated to assisting U.S. companies to expand their businesses by exporting, through providing export counseling, business matchmaking services, market intelligence, commercial diplomacy, and trade advocacy.
