Green For All builds new coalitions that leverage public and private investment to create quality jobs in the alternative energy economy—jobs that alleviate poverty, strengthen the middle class and restore the environment in target geographies across the U.S. This work covers a broad spectrum and takes many forms: pulling together workforce development agencies; developing business tools for small green enterprises; training young community leaders to be world-class spokespersons for the clean energy economy; or advocating for green job training for vulnerable communities. In any community, G4A addresses three primary tasks:  policy development, capacity building and movement building.   www.greenforall.org

The Write Choice Network is a team of social entrepreneurs committed to building healthy and safe communities. Their team approach is designed to build strategic resources that empower non-profits, small businesses, tribes and governments to grow sustainable communities and implement innovative, community-based development. WCN works by bringing together expertise in strategic planning with sustainable business leadership, and securing resources essential to communities where people participate in a healthy, sustainable economy. WCN’s Growing Green Energy Division provides renewable energy solutions through renewable energy installations, green workforce development, and consultation. www.thewritechoicenetwork.com

Opportunity Link, Inc. is a non-profit corporation whose mission is to find systemic ways to reduce poverty and help the communities of North Central Montana achieve independence, prosperity and a better way of life. OL was established by the communities of North Central Montana in partnership with the Northwest Area Foundation in 2004. During the last seven years, we worked in three high priority areas: 1) Asset and wealth creation (including affordable housing and financial literacy training); 2) Public transportation; and 3) Economic development (including industry and workforce development). OL acts as a lead agency to establish region-wide workforce development, alternative energy strategies, affordable housing initiatives, and transportation improvements. www.opportunitylinkmt.org

Creating Jobs for Our Sustainable Future: From Ideas to Action

Northcentral Montana communities have demonstrated the potential to create jobs in the emerging sectors of alternative energy production, resource-efficient infrastructure improvements, and "green" design and construction.

Over the past five years, we have seen the emergence of coordinated public transit, biodiesel production, wind power development, LEED-certified construction, and energy efficient housing retrofits.

Many of these projects were funded with grants or through public-private partnerships, opportunities that we will continue to explore. However, we believe that Northcentral Montana is ready to develop more sustainable capital development and entrepreneurship for the emerging renewable energy industries.

You are invited to join key planners and decision-makers in a hands-on community forum to be sponsored by Northwest Area Foundation, with facilitation from nationally-recognized economic development agency Green For All. Our goal is to identify relevant, realistic strategies and action steps for economic growth in the sustainability sector.
