Why should Law Enforcement Professionals attend the 42nd Juvenile Justice Symposium?

The Juvenile Justice Symposium provides a learning environment where interactive presentations and impactful discussions are presented to increase the capacity of law enforcement officers to address juvenile victimization, delinquency, and crime from an holistic perspective. To accomplish this goal, this year the symposium will offer sessions that:

• Increase the focus on juvenile justice issues relative to law enforcement, • Educate law enforcement officers on pertinent juvenile justice issues, • Assist law enforcement officers and agencies in the identification of trends, resources, and community partnerships that may help to identify best practice responses to improve and promote the safety and well-being of youth in their communities, • Encourage the development of innovative and effective prevention and/or intervention programs that can divert youth from the juvenile justice system.

Additionally, municipal law enforcement officers will be able to obtain up to 12 hours toward their continuing education requirements.

Why should Education Professionals attend the 42nd Juvenile Justice Symposium?

The Juvenile Justice Symposium provides a learning environment where interactive presentations and impactful discussions are presented to increase the capacity of educators to address truancy, child development, classroom management, and behavioral problems from an holistic perspective. To accomplish this goal, this year the symposium will offer sessions that:

• Encourage educators to develop more reasoned and developmentally appropriate responses to school-based behavioral issues, • Educate teachers and administrators on pertinent juvenile justice issues, • Encourage the development of innovative and effective prevention and/or intervention strategies and programs that can divert youth from the juvenile justice system, • Improve educator’s effectiveness in promoting a safe, learning environment.

Additionally, educators will be able to obtain up to 11 hours toward their continuing education requirements.

 

42nd Juvenile Justice Symposium 2019 

The Mississippi Divison of Public Safety Planning- Programs and the Mississippi Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee (State Advisory Group) cordially invite you to the Symposium on July 31 to August 2, 2019, in Biloxi, MS. The theme for this year’s event is “Justice for All Youth: Accessing the Tools that Bring About Change.”

The purpose of the 42nd Juvenile Justice Symposium is to provide a venue whereby participants from varying disciplines can receive appropriate resources to help prevent juvenile delinquency by educating the professionals who serve throughout the State of Mississippi and the nation. The Symposium is careful to offer up-to-date training and information in an attempt to efficiently respond to victimization by enhancing the knowledge among juvenile justice practitioners through training sessions conducted by national and state presenters who are leaders in their respective fields.
