The bodhisattva Thogme Zangpo, who composed this text, the Thirty-seven Practices of Bodhisattvas, was a great holy being. He was like a wish-granting jewel that grants all wishes, whatever is needed, to other sentient beings. Thogme Zangpo was extremely learned, pure and good-hearted. Despite his own good qualities, he never acted with pride;
