Introductory Meditations: Practice & Discussion

The Tibetan word for meditation is gom, and it has the literal meaning of "familiarization." Through meditation, we seek to become more familiar with the positive mind states and less familiar with the negative mind states, more familiar with what brings peace and satisfaction and less familiar with what brings dissatisfaction. This gradual transformation of the mind can bring about happiness for ourselves and others as we develop qualities such as patience and compassion that enable us to be kinder and wiser to all beings.

Join us for an interactive, student-led morning of meditation. We will review the fundamentals, practice a few meditations and engage in discussion. This event is suitable for beginners seeking to establish a meditation practice and experienced practitioners wishing to strengthen the foundation of their current practice or review the basics.
