2017 CCSS Summer Conference I
June 26 - 29, 2017
"Teaching Controversial Issues in the Classroom and Using Inquiry in History, Civics, Geography in Elementary through High School"
In the current political environment, we understand that teachers are concerned about teaching specific controversial issues in the classroom setting. It is the goal of CCSS to give teachers the tools and materials to have engaging and civil discussions debates about policy issues. Sessions at each workshop will be held on inquiry instruction, latest pedagogical methods in teaching geography, history and literacy, and other important topics. The first day of each workshop will be on civics education, with an emphasis on teaching difficult political/social issues and moderating debate on political issues in the classroom.
