FREE WORKSHOP -Bed Bugs and Book Bags Teacher Workshop
What: Do you have concern about bed bugs being introduced into the classroom? Do you check for bed bugs when you travel, shop, or go to the movie theater? If you would like to learn more about bed bugs and how you can educate your students and others on how to identify and prevent them through science and health curriculum, please join us for the Bed Bugs and Book Bags Workshop.

The BBBB curriculum is designed for third through fifth grade students, although it can be adapted to
any age group. During the workshop we will review the teacher’s guide to bed
bug biology and will demonstrate a few of the ten lesson plans provided in the
BBBB curriculum. As we explore the
curriculum, you will learn how to properly identify a bed bug by solving a
mystery using clues on a Venn diagram, see how they travel by exploring travel
methods around the world, learn how to identify possible arthropod bites by
critically thinking about several story scenarios, and learn how to prevent bed
bugs by playing games such as “It’s getting hot in here”, a memory game where
you keep household items by treating them with heat. After attending the workshop to learn about
bed bug biology, educators will be given access to a website containing the
downloadable lesson plans, teacher guide, and curriculum map. The curriculum is appropriate for classrooms,
daycares, camps, and meetings. This award-winning 4-H curriculum uses the
experiential learning model for each lesson allowing students to “Do, Learn,
Reflect, and Apply” what they have learned. The curriculum is aligned to
