2012 Apprentice Pheasant Hunt At Nelson Slough

Juniors, women and mobility-impaired hunters are invited to sharpen their skills at an Apprentice Pheasant Hunt at Nelson Slough sponsored by the Yuba and Sutter County Fish and Game Commissions.

There are morning and afternoon hunts on Saturday, October 27, Sunday October 28, Saturday November 3 and Sunday November 4. Check in times are 7 a.m. and noon. UPDATE: Wow! Thanks for the interest in hunting. Due to high demand, the only hunts with openings are Afternoon, Saturday, November 3 (check in at noon) and Afternoon, Sunday, November 4 (check in at noon).

With pen-raised pheasant and a controlled, educational and safe environment, this event sharpens basic hunting skills and further develops hunter safety and a sense of hunter ethics and wildlife management.

Trained dogs will be provided. To ensure a quality experience for all hunters, no outside dogs will be allowed. All applicants must have a valid California hunting license. Adult hunters must have a game bird stamp. Junior hunters must be accompanied by a non-hunting adult 18 years or older. Proper attire and hunting orange hat or vest is required.

Space is limited, therefore a lottery drawing will be held one week prior to the event. Those drawn will be notified via email that they have been selected for this hunt.
