five spectacular gardens in the
City of Seven Hills.
Wednesday, June 6, 9-11 a.m. 


This is a one-day event with two optional tours on Tuesday, June 5 noon-4 p.m.

Horticulture Field Day is open to members of the Garden Club of Virginia and one guest.

 Fee: $45 per person, which includes a box lunch on June 6. Fee is non-refundable.

Checking in at Old City Cemetery

Check in on Tuesday is noon to 4 p.m. If you have signed up for the optional program at Poplar Forest, you do not need check in at Old City Cemetery before going to Poplar Forest. We recommend you check in before heading to the Van Allens' as we have parking information and the gardens visit orders for Wednesday.

Check in on Wednesday is 8:45-11 a.m.

Optional Tuesday Afternoon, June 5, Garden Tours:
Poplar Forest landscape with Jack Gary, Director of Archaeology and Landscapes, 1-2 p.m.
Tour the house beforehand at discounted rate.
Pebbleton, garden of Kay and Kent Van Allen, 3-5 p.m.

Wednesday, June 6, Garden Tours:
9:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-3 p.m.
Attendees will be given a specific order in which to visit the gardens as well as details and maps at check-in at the Old City Cemetery.

Box Lunch and Tours at Old City Cemetery
Wednesday, June 6 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Lunches served at the Comfort House at OCC. 
Choice of two guided cemetery walking tours from 12:15-12:45 p.m.

Old City Cemetery is the oldest municipal cemetery still in use today in Virginia, and one of the oldest such burial grounds in the United States. Since the 1990s it has been operated as a history park and arboretum, in addition to being an active cemetery. Learn More.
