"Annuities:  The Devil is in the Details; An Overview of the Strcuture, Taxation, Complicating Factors & Long Term Benefits".  The speaker is Angela Reynolds, Cetera Financial Group.  In the rapidly transforming insurance industry, it is hard to keep up on regulation and product changes.  This presentation is an overview that willprovide a discussionof the structure, taxation, complicating factors, and long term benefits of variable annuities.  This course has been applied for one hour of Life CE, CFP, CPE and CLE.

"Ahead of the Trends:  Washington Update on Retirement Savings Initiatives"  The speaker is W. Andrew Larson, CPC, Columbia Funds. The U.S. retirement system has seen dramatic changes over the years, and there is every indication that this pattern of change will continue as part of policies to address tax reform and deficit reduction.  This course addresses critical topics under discussion and debate on both the legislative and regulatory fronts as they pertain to workplae retirement plans.  Among the many topics covered are the following:

.  The committees and individuals on Capitol Hill who are primarily responsible for pension freform initiatives

.New laws and regulations that recently took effect, including those related to pension funding relief, plan fee disclosure and the net investment income tax

.  New (perhaps controversial) retirement savings proposals including the Department of Labor''s effort to expand the definition of investment advice fiduciary in a manner that will have significat implications for plan consultants, expanded target-date fund analysis, the inclusion of lifetime income options in defined contribution plans and capping retirement savings accumulations.
