Will Cabell and Deborah Stuart lead a teacher workshop on the use of puppets for expanding classroom lessons focused on reading and language development.
Participating educators will learn to make several kinds of simple puppets (including rod puppets and found-object puppets) and practice techniques for using them to make books come alive and to encourage storytelling and creative self-expression.
Attention will also be given to the use of puppets for social learning and meeting the needs of diverse learners, including children with disabilities and learning challenges.
Workshop Leaders: For over 30 years Will Cabell has been a performer, director and educator using the interdisciplinary arts of puppetry and theater. Will received his M.Ed in Integrated Arts from Plymouth State University and has worked extensively as a teaching artist and trainer. He also served as the art and music teacher at the Monarch School of New England in Rochester, NH, a school for students with special needs.
