Pittsburgh Presidential Salute Your Troops Gala 

The Pittsburgh Social Exchange and presenting sponsor ‘Mother, May I’ would like to extend to you a special invitation to the Pittsburgh Presidential Salute Your Troops Gala on Wednesday, August 17th at Jay Verno Studios from 6-9pm. It is with pride, excitement, and honor that we ask you to participate in this awareness mission with us as we support and celebrate our veterans through a special program called Team River Runner (www.TeamRiverRunner.org).

Pittsburgh is home to the 16th chapter for TRR and they need our help. Did you know that Western Pennsylvania has one of the highest concentrations of veterans in the USA? Did you know that many veterans here don’t reside in a home but are in fact homeless, disadvantaged, disabled, misunderstood, and fight for their own lives every day? Pittsburgh needs to be more aware of programs that support helping and healing our soldiers and the silent heroes among us. TRR is a program that heals our soldiers back into their healthy lifestyles through water sports.  They provide skills that teach them how to navigate our rivers and waterways, thus lending them to get back on track with their own lives.

Special Guest, Laurett Ellsworth

Laurett Ellsworth Arenz is one of two women in the history of beauty pageants to ever become Miss America and Miss USA. The second was coached by Laurett. She is one of 11 children and has 7 of her own. As a program director for Business Now, an ABC television program, she airs in major markets throughout the country. She is the National Spokesperson for the Sharing Love Foundation, which aids the families of children with life threatening diseases. Laurett is also is actively involved with the Virginia Governor's annual conference on 'Right Choices for Youth' in connection with the Institute for Youth Development, a non-profit organization that analyses and publishes statistics about risk behaviors in teens.
