This workshop addresses the many elements needed to start your own business. It begins with a discussion of each participant’s business idea, how that idea is unique in the marketplace, who your ideal customers are, how to reach them, and how businesses can be positioned against the competition. We look at self-ownership, franchises and purchasing businesses as options for business ownership. We then discuss creating the “legal entity” that is your business, how and where to find information and how to register your company. The final portion of the workshop deals with business finances, presenting an overview of identifying startup costs, examining expenses, establishing a “break even” point, crafting a profit and loss statement, developing financial projections and driving up profits. Taken together, these elements form the basis needed to start your business and to develop a successful business plan.
