Please join The Communicator's Club for our Tuesday, January 9th luncheon program featuring three guest panelists from our community. Bill Alfano, Mark Walsh and Katie Marquedant will talk about their experiences and how they help to make our lives and our community a great place to live.

Bill Alfano

Bill is the Director of Marketing and Sponsorship for the Pan Mass Challenge. He has over 25 years of marketing experience where he has worked in Phoenix, Dallas, New Haven and now in Massachusetts. Bill has directed projects for profit and non-profit organizations, in radio and event planning. The PMC raised over 51 million dollars last year from the weekend bike ride from Sturbridge to Provincetown. Bill studied Communications at the University of Rhodes Island.

Mark Walsh Mark Walsh

Mark served as U.S. Deputy Chief of Protocol from April 2011 to December 2016 and Acting Chief of Protocol from December 2017 to January 20, 2017.  The Office of the Chief of Protocol is the primary liaison for visiting foreign Chiefs of State and Heads of Government meeting with the President and Vice President and Secretary of State and manages protocol arrangements for Presidential and Vice Presidential travel abroad.  During his tenure, Mark was the protocol lead for President Obama's State Visit to the Philippines, the 2014 U.S.-E.U. Summit, 2016 U.S.-ASEAN Leaders Summit, the State Visits of Chinese President Xi and Pope Francis, and the opening of the United Nations General Assembly from 2013 to 2016.  

Prior to joining the Obama Administration, Mark was the Vice President of Development for the AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts. Previously, he worked on the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Committee, as the National Director for LGBT Outreach for the 2008 “Hillary for President” and as Events Director for “Boston 2004,” the host committee for the 2004 Democratic Convention in Boston. He also was co-founder of Rafanelli Events.  Mark is a graduate of Boston University and Boston University Law School.

Katie Marquedant   

Katie Marquedant is a Senior Project Specialist for the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center. She is responsible for the messaging of news and public affairs to the media in general. Katie has over 30 years of broadcast and marketing experience in New England and national. She began her career as an assignment editor at WCVB-TV, Channel Five. Katie has been a field producer for ABC News, Inside Edition and other national syndicated national news organizations. Her experience in broadcast journalism has lead to her ability to promote stories of breakthroughs in medicine for MGH. Katie is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts.
