8 contact hours, including 1 hour Ethics Credit
The NHANRS Annual Conference will once again be held over two Fridays online.
On Day 1, January 28th, the conference will focus on recent changes to NHDES with the further development of the Land Resources Management Program. The NHDES Land Resources Management Program covers the Wetlands Bureau, Alteration of Terrain Bureau, Subsurface Bureau, and the Shoreland Program. In addition, the Wetlands Bureau has recent and upcoming rules changes that will likely have an effect on all projects. Shane Csiki, NH State Geologist, will present research-based tools that support earth and water resources science in New Hampshire. The first day will finish with an ethics presentation by Christopher Hawkins from DTC Lawyers. Mr. Hawkins is the current Vice-Chair of the NH Bar Association.
On Day 2, February 4th, the focus will be on New Hampshire’s in-lieu fee mitigation option, the Aquatic Resource Mitigation Fund. NHDES is the sponsor of the ARM Fund and is responsible for disbursal of mitigation funds to projects that provide significant environmental benefits. The session will start with an overview of the ARM Fund by Lori Sommer and Cheryl Bondi of NHDES. Information will include the process and requirements NHDES must follow to carry-out the in-lieu fee program to be in compliance with federal standards. This will be followed by a series of presentations on various types of mitigation projects that have been done through the ARM Fund program. The morning will finish with a round table discussion on questions related to the ARM Fund and important considerations for project success. The conference will end with NHANRS Annual Membership Business Meeting and the election of the 2022 Board of Directors.
