St. John’s will be co-hosting with New York Campus Compact an Institute on Academic Service-Learning on June 15, 2017 facilitated by Dr. Edward Zlotkowski, former Professor of English at Bentley University and academic service-learning pioneer. The program is designed for faculty who want to explore and/or deepen their understanding and practice of academic service-learning.  Dr. Zlotkowski founded the Bentley Service-Learning Center in 1990. The Center provides university wide support for all undergraduate departments and has aided a quarter of the Bentley full-time faculty and several thousand students in participating in service-learning projects.  He has led service-learning workshops for international, national and regional organizations as well as for several hundred individual campuses and writes and speaks extensively on a wide range of service-learning and engagement-related topics.

The Institute is open to all full time and part time faculty and administrators who teach.  Your attendance at this program will result in certification in academic service-learning.
