                    Cultivating Wise Attention:

The Gift of Awareness and the Path of Freedom

 with Margo McLoughlin

In this one-day retreat, Community Dharma Leader Margo McLoughlin will guide participants in reflecting on the nature of awareness.

Margo writes: "When we begin to practice meditation we soon discover that there is another way of relating to our lives than the one we are used to. As we settle the discursive patterns of thought, we realize that we were born with remarkable gifts of perception. Each of the sense doors, including the mind that knows experience as it is unfolding, is a gateway to liberating insight. And each of us has the ability to deeply notice and appreciate the fleeting beauty of the phenomenal world. By rediscovering our sense of wonder, we realign our values so that we live from our highest potential, opening our hearts to happiness and freedom. In this day of practice, I hope to encourage participants to uncover their own appreciation of the gift of awareness."

Margo McLoughlin has been practicing in the Insight tradition of Theravada Buddhism since 1986. A former staff member at Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts and a graduate of the Harvard Divinity School, Margo has also completed her training to be a Community Dharma Leader through Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Woodacre, California. Her teachers include Joseph Goldstein, Carol Wilson, Thanissara, and Eugene Cash. For more information about Margo, please visit her website at
