Because the Buddha's teachings are considered to be priceless, and in keeping with the teachings and spirit of generosity or dana, this retreat is freely offered. Donations are welcomed.

There will be two dana baskets set out at the retreat. One basket will be for you to offer dana for the teacher and a separate basket for organizational costs incurred by Victoria IMS. The suggested donation for organizational costs for this two-day event is $40. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Finding Balance: Mindfulness and Equanimity

A Weekend Meditation Retreat

Margo McLoughlin

In this weekend retreat, Margo McLoughlin will explore three pathways for understanding and developing equanimity, a quality of mind that is inclusive of all aspects of experience. In the midst of our complex lives, it can be valuable to set aside some time to reflect on the direction of our spiritual journey and how our practice manifests in the world. Equanimity is not just the end result of our dedication to practice, but a state of mind that can be actively cultivated. This beautiful mental state is one the Seven Factors of Awakening, as well as one of the Four Divine Abodes. Far from neutralizing our energy for compassionate action, equanimity serves us in every thing we undertake.

Margo McLoughlin is a Community Dharma Leader who regularly teaches with the Victoria Insight Meditation Society. She leads retreats in Victoria and other Island communities.
