Join health care providers, home visitors and other supporters of new and expectant parents for this educational event. Hear about the latest information on how to reduce the risks associated with Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and sudden unexpected infant deaths (SUID) in a sleep setting.

After attending the NH Infant Safe Sleep Symposium participants will:

  • Understand the factors contributing to the occurrence of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other sleep-related infant deaths.
  • Increase their understanding about the limitations of data surveillance in determining the incidence of SUID.
  • Be able to state 3 ways the data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s SUID Case Registry is being used to inform research, policy and prevention programs. 
  • Increase knowledge about efforts to prevent SUID in New Hampshire.
  • Be familiar with the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Guidelines for parents, caregivers and professionals regarding safe sleep.
  • Gain strategies for promoting safe-sleep messages with the new and expectant parents with whom they work. 
  • Increase their understanding of the complexity of determining the cause of sudden, unexpected infant deaths.
