Oakcliff is bringing back the very popular Clinegatta format. The Two-Day Clinic is included in the entry fee for invited skippers and crew. Independant sailors maybe accepted for the Clinic by registering below. Frequently teams are missing a team member or two and this is an exeptional way to sail with some top level teams and learn from your team mates and our coach.
The July grade 4 Match Race Regatta is an wonderful way to work on your teamwork and hone your skills against top notch competiton and an opportunity to race in the Swedish Match 40s, the boats used for the Oakcliff International. The event will not only be thrilling for each team, but also very useful to teams trying to make it into the next tier of match racing. Earn spots into two grade 3 events; August grade 3 and Halloween.
The coach for this Clinegatta is David Dellenbaugh.
David Dellenbaugh is the publisher, editor and author of Speed & Smarts racing newsletter. He was the tactician and starting helmsman on America3 during her successful defense of the America's Cup in 1992 and sailed in three other America's Cup campaigns from 1986 to 2007. David is also a Lightning world champion, two-time Congressional Cup winner, seven-time Thistle national champion, two-time winner of the Canada's Cup match racing championship, three-time Prince of Wales U.S. match racing champion and past winner of the U.S. team racing championships for the Hinman Trophy. Dellenbaugh wrote and narrated the Learn The Racing Rules video, and he is currently a member of the US Sailing Racing Rules Committee (and was its chairman from 2005-2008). David also does clinics and seminars, coached the US match racing team at the 2012 Olympics, and is currently a tactical and rules coach for the US Sailing Team during its run-up to the Rio 2016 Olympics.
Priority will be granted to skippers that have at least one season of prior match racing experience and based on the ISAF World Ranking List. Special consideration will be given to collegiate and women’s teams in addition to teams traveling a distance of more than 500 kilometers. Please send your reguest for invitation at least one month prior to the event.
