Weekend Workshop Series - Expedition and Navigation 101

Join Oakcliff digitally every Saturday from 1pm to 2pm (Eastern Time) for an interactive digital workshop on a variety of sailing topics that can help cruisers and racers alike! Proceeds support both Oakcliff with our mission to Build American Leaders Through Sailing and coaches in our industry.

This week:

This Saturday, Suzy Leech will present "Race Preparation for Navigators", including key steps for configuring the industry-standard Expedition Software. This is an intro level class; no previous experience is required, and will help you get ready for your upcoming season of sailing. You can even download a free version of Expedition to follow along. Please note the free version lets you manage charts, download weather data, and other functions, but not run course optimizations which requires a full license.

More about your Coach:

Suzy has spent her life on boats, including the bow in the 1995 America’s Cup, and since then as helm, tactician, and navigator on boats from her J70 to Super Yachts with Temptation/Oakcliff in between. She has won over 30 International regattas, in 15 separate classes, and is a World Champion in three of them. Suzy is an Aerospace Engineer who started her career developing data systems for NASA’s International Space Station. She currently develops database-driven websites, and has conducted remote expeditions for National Geographic, UNESCO and ESPN. She has also parlayed her experience in sailing to work both in-front of, and behind, the camera – commentating, producing & filming on-board for ESPN. She brings her energy and enthusiasm for sailing and fundraising to Oakcliff’s Board.
