Improving Outcomes for Justice-Involved Youth
A Learning Institute on What Works in Juvenile Justice
This learning opportunity, lead by national experts, is designed to guide you through an experiential process to implement evidence-informed practice in your agency!!!!! Plan to come and hear about WHAT we now know about our justice-involved youth, WHAT works to reduce recidivism and increase compliance, and HOW you apply this to your agency.

Three unique tracks (attendees must pre-register for their track selection(s)):

Track #1 ~ Leadership: Turning Research into Practical Application in Your Agency
This track starts with an Opening Session on Monday, March 21st at 3:00 p.m. and runs the entire period of the conference, which ends on Wednesday, March 23rd by 2:00 p.m. The track will be highlighted with Plenary Sessions each day with nationally recognized speakers followed by facilitated group discussions aimed at assisting attendees in developing plans for their agencies/facilities.
Tuesday's plenary session topics: Creating a Culture of Change AND Applying New Skills to Build a Positive, Strength-Based Culture. Wednesday's plenary session topics: Cognitive Behavioral Techniques and Evidence-Informed Practice AND Transition: A Parallel Process for Staff and Youth.
Track #2 ~ Building Relationships with Youth
This 8-hour training session introduces staff to the concepts of Building Healthy Relationships with Youth and provides examples and practice in developing and facilitating those relationships. It also provides material for agency and program administrators to help support their staff in building relationships and to follow up after the learning experience to ensure staff practice what they learn on the job. If you choose this track, you may attend the Opening Session & Reception on Monday, March 21st at 3:00 p.m. The Building Relationships for Youth course will be all-day on Tuesday, March 22nd (approx. 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
Track #3 ~ Using Positive Youth Development Strategies to Engage Youth
This 8-hour training session introduces staff to the concepts of Positive Youth Development and provides examples and practice in developing and facilitating positive youth development activities for young people. It also provides pre-training material for agency and program administrators to help prepare their staff to transition toward a Positive Youth Development approach and to follow-up after the learning experience to ensure staff begin and continue practicing what they learn on the job.
The Using Positive Youth Development Strategies course will be all-day on Wednesday, March 23rd (approx. 8:15 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.). Attendees may choose to only come for this one-day session or attendees can package this option with Track #2 which would allow for attendance at the Opening Session & Reception on Monday, March 21st and attendance in Track #2 (Building Healthy Relationships with Youth on Tuesday, March 22nd (read registrations options closely in making the selection that you want).
