Eucharistic Minister/Visitor Training - Kaua'i

A training for anyone who wants to be a Eucharistic Minister and/or Eucharistic Visitor will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Kapa'a. The trainer is the Rev. Ryan Newman.

A Eucharistic Minister is a lay person authorized to administer the Consecrated Elements at a Celebration of Holy Eucharist. A Eucharistic Visitor is a lay person authorized to take the Consecrated Elements m in a timely manner following a Celebration of Holy Eucharist to members of the congregation who, by reason of illness or infirmity, were unable to be present at the Celebration. (Please see the Special Note below for Eucharistic Visitors.)

Both EMs and EVs should attend the morning session, which will begin at 8:30 a.m. That session will last 2 hours.

Those intending to be Eucharistic Ministers only, and not Eucharistic Visitors, can then leave. Those who intend to be Eucharistic Visitors will stay for the second session, which will last until 12:30 p.m.

Anyone may attend the training, but in order to be licensed as an EM or EV, a person needs to have the endorsement of the priest in charge of his or her congregation.

This training is especially for persons on Kaua'i. Trainings on the Neighbor Islands are occurring.  People from neighboring islands may attend this training, but the airfare will not be covered from the diocesan budget. Check the diocesan website's event page for a session near you.

*Special Note: Those intending to be licensed as a Eucharistic Visitor must also need to complete the Sexual Misconduct Prevention training with the Rev. Al Miles. If you have not already completed this training, a session will be coming up for the island of Kaua'i on September 13, 2014.  For more information and to register for the Sexual Misconduct Prevention training, click HERE.
