On Friday, January 27 and Saturday, January 28, 2017, the second annual diocesan Music Conference will be held at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Aiea from 9:30am to 3:00pm each day. Friday and Saturday are two different sessions.  Explore your roles as leaders, teachers, inviters, transformers, and so much more, as we preach the Good News through God’s gift of Song.

If you play an instrument please bring it with you.

The Rev. John Hau'oli Tomoso of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church on Maui, attended the first music conference in January 2016, and shared that it "re-awakened in me the vision and reality of the 'Singing Assembly.'”

Leading the conference once again is Dent Davidson (pictured above), the Associate for Arts & Liturgy on the bishop’s staff in the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago.  A professional church musician since his teens, his primary work is to unite voices in song with joy and passion.  He travels frequently as a workshop clinician& consultant in music and worship, and also serves as Chaplain and Musician to the House of Bishops. Having earned a degree in Composition and Vocal Jazz, Dent enjoys widening the scope and variety of music sung and heard in worship, and spends much of his time composing and searching for new resources.  His goal:  To touch hearts by embracing the beauty of the Anglican Choral Tradition AND expanding it.  (In other words:  a Church that swings!)

Joining Dent is Sandra Montes, the Episcopal Church Foundation's Spanish Language Resource Consultant, who shares a passion for music, education and writing. Sandra who is also a singer songwriter, has been volunteering and working in the Episcopal Church since 1986, serving as musician, translator, speaker, consultant, and writier.

I look forward to the 2017 Diocesan Music Conference," says Tomoso, "where we will not only study and experience the 'Singing Assembly', but also continue to embed this reality in our parishes and the Eucharist we celebrate."
