Eating Disorders: Menses, Infertility, Fertility and Pregnancy
a free Webinar, presented by NEDIC
People with eating disorders frequently experience menstrual irregularities and difficulty with conception. They often have concerns about gaining weight and a phobia of pregnancy. Among health care professionals, it is commonly agreed that the presence of an active eating disorder is a contraindication for pregnancy and fertility treatments. If pregnancy does occur, it imposes a tremendous physiological and potentially psychological stress on the patient and a multidisciplinary approach is imperative to promote the best possible outcome for both mother and child.
During this webinar, Nurse Practitioner Alma Naddafi will discuss the impact that eating disorders can have on fertility and infertility, and focus on how clinicians and eating disorder patients can be mindful of these impacts while working toward full healthy recovery. Clinicians, patients and family members alike will benefit from this introduction to the intersections between menstrual cycling, fertility and eating disorders.
