Forensic Photography and IAI Certification Preparation Course

George Reis and Eric Johnson

5 Day Workshop • Littleton, CO  • September 21 - 25, 2015

About the Workshop:

Two instructors, five days, and a limit of 16 students!

"I enjoyed the way both instructors worked together. Very fun and friendly teachers. This was the best photo class I have taken."

"You two knocked it out of the park. It was the best quality training I have had yet."

Forensic photographers at a basic level can use simple techniques and equipment to produce adequate images most of the time; certified forensic photographers must have, and use, more control so they can consistently produce exceptional images that meet the rigorous standards and technical requirements in this discipline.

This workshop is intended to provide the participant with the knowledge and methods to be exceptional in their field and to be prepared to take the written and practical exams for the IAI Forensic Photography and Imaging Certification.

Topics range from photographic fundamentals like exposure, focus, and depth-of-field to mastering macro photography, night and low light photography, and the use of forensic light sources.

Each participant will learn the following concepts, techniques, and skills

  • Fundamentals of Photography
  • Mastering Your Camera
  • Macro Photography Techniques
  • Photographing Latent Prints, Tool Marks, and Tire Impressions
  • Injury Photography
  • Night Photography including Painting with Light Techniques
  • Forensic Light Source Photography

This workshop is presented as a combination of lectures, discussions, and hands-on exercises.

The last two hours on Friday will be set aside for the IAI Forensic Photography and Imaging written test. For those who wish to take the test, you will have to apply for the certification and meet the IAI qualifications prior to the workshop. More information will be forwarded by e-mail to those who register for this workshop.
