2020 BCArc Down Syndrome Virtual Buddy Walk  
Distancing to Make a Difference
Saturday, October 24, 2020 

Due to Covid-19, many of our events were sadly canceled. While we cannot have mass gatherings of people, our families felt strongly that we should still hold our Buddy Walk.  This year our walk will be virtual.

We will have a registration with a fee of $20 which includes your Buddy Walk t-shirt and 5 chances to win from an array of great prizes.

 A portion of each registration fee will go towards a donation to the DSFG.

Registration will be opened through Friday, October 2, 2020. An email will be sent with information on where you can pick up your t-shirts prior to the virtual walk. 

On Saturday October 24, 2020 we ask that all participants put on their Buddy Walk shirts and walk a mile (or more if you want to get your steps in) anywhere you want to -- your neighborhood, tracks, hiking trails, rail trails, beaches, woods, etc.  Make sure you keep to the social distancing guidelines and keep your groups small. 

Send your selfies, pics and videos during the walk to bcarc@bcarc.org.  We will stream and post pics and videos on our website that day for everyone to see.

Sponsorships will help make this a success!

Companies will get their logo on our webpage, your name on the back of our t-shirts, and your banner will be displayed virtually on the weekend of the event.  Sponsorship needs to be in by 10/2/2020 for us to include your name on the t-shirt.

Even though we are in the midst of a pandemic, our spirit is still strong!  Let’s join in on this weekend and show our support for our beloved Buddy Walk.  We cannot wait to see you in your t-shirts distancing to make a difference!

About the BCArc Down Syndrome Family Group

The BCArc Down Syndrome Family Group was founded in 2006 and aims to support people with Down syndrome by fundraising, educating, building natural supports and having fun!  To reach these goals, the group meets on a monthly basis and holds awareness events such as the Buddy Walk® of the Berkshires and Sprout Film Festival.  The group also sponsors speakers to educate the community about topics related to Down syndrome.

The group’s strongest asset to the  community is the natural supports and bonds that are created between families who have a child or an adult with Down syndrome.  Social opportunities give families a chance to include siblings and extended family members in their support network.  Family events include everything from pizza picnics to bowling parties!

• Monetary donations, no matter how large or small, are appreciated.  In kind donations are also encouraged! These donations can be in the form of raffle prizes, services needed for the event, food, etc.  In kind donations will have the same benefits as sponsors based on the value of the donation.
