Expand and deepen your knowledge of the assessment and intervention of reading challenges with Dr. David Kilpatrick, the author of the recently published and highly acclaimed Essentials of Assessing, Preventing and Overcoming Reading Difficulties.

In this full day presentation, Dr. Kilpatrick, an experienced School Psychologist and leading authority on reading assessment and intervention, will provide a window into the vast world of research into reading acquisition and reading disabilities.

Dr. Kilpatrick’s presentation will address the needs of School Psychologists and Educators.

This session will provide participants with:
  • A review of the current reading research, highlighting the impact of phonological processing and orthographic mapping in the development of reading
  • A method for conducting intervention-oriented assessments that utilizes psychoeducational tools to pinpoint the reasons why a student is struggling in reading
  • Evidence-Based targeted techniques for improving reading skills
  • Case studies, with emphasis on linking assessment findings to evidence based interventions.
  • OPA-CE credits (pending approval)

“The most encouraging findings from the research are not about small improvements in struggling readers. They are about a revolution in how we understand literacy development and reading difficulties.” - David Kilpatrick
