Training Description

One RC Basic training, while awesome, will not by itself change the hearts and minds of staff. All RC trainers know this. Now that many organizations are using RC for 3, 5, even 10 years, there is a critical need to teach RC refreshers every year. This helps keep the concepts fresh, apply the theory to actual clients, and sustain trauma-informed thinking across the organization. 

This training will model an RC Refresher on the important concept of trauma’s effects on the brain and biology. It will use the information from the RC Basic as a launching point and build more in-depth knowledge of how early childhood trauma affects the brain and body, how those changes relate to current functioning, and the best ways to grow healthier brains. The training will aim to make the brain differences understandable through an engaging participatory exercise. In addition, we will cover how to use the new brain science to make the everyday minutes of our programs as healing as possible, while simultaneously making work more fun and rewarding for staff.

Patricia Wilcox, LICSW, Traumatic Stress Institute of Klingberg Family Centers

Patricia Wilcox, LCSW, Vice President of Strategic Development, Klingberg Family Centers, New Britain, Connecticut specializes in treatment of traumatized children and their families. She created the Restorative Approach™, a trauma- and relationship-based treatment method. She is a Faculty Trainer for Risking Connection® and an Adjunct Faculty at the University of CT School of Social Work. She travels nationally to train treaters on trauma-informed care, specializing in improving the daily life of treatment programs. She was the 2011 Connecticut Social Worker of the Year. She is the author of Trauma Informed Care: The Restorative Approach published by NEARI Press.

Continuing Education Credits

Satisfactory Completion. Participants must have paid the continuing education fee, signed in, attended the entire seminar, completed an evaluation, and signed out in order to receive a certificate. Failure to sign in or out will result in forfeiture of credit for the entire course. No exceptions will be made. Partial credit is not available.

Psychologists. R. Cassidy Seminars is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. R. Cassidy Seminars maintains responsibility for this program and its content. 

Social Workers. R. Cassidy Seminars, ACE Provider #1082 is an approved provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org through the Approved Continuing Education (ACE) Program. R. Cassidy Seminars maintains responsibility for this program. Approval Period: April 15, 2015- April 15, 2018. Social workers should contact their regulartory board to determine course approval. Social workers will receive continuing education clinical social work clock hours for participating in this course.

NY R. Cassidy Seminars is recognized by the New York State Education Department's State Board for Social Work as an approved provider (#0006) of continuing education for licensed social workers.

Counselors/ Marriage and Family Therapist. 

CA The Board of Behavioral Sciences has deferred CE course approvals to APA and ASWB for its licenses. See those approvals under Psychologists and Social Workers. 

Other States If your state is not specifically listed, nearly all Counselor and MFT boards accept either APA or ASWB approval, or are reciprocal with other state licensing board approvals such as those listed below. Check with your board to be sure. The Ohio Board includes Counselors.  

Chemical Dependancy Counselors. Provider approved by NAADAC Approved Education Provider Program for designated hours. Approval #000654

CA Provider approved by CFAAP/CAADAC, Provider #4N-00-434-0212 for designated CEHs. CAADAC is an ICRC member which has reciprocity with most ICRC member states.

Cancellation Policy

Payment is expected at the time of registration.  We will refund the registration fee minus a $30 processing fee for cancellations two weeks prior to the training.  No refunds will be made for cancellations inside two weeks. 

Participants are required to pass the RC Knowledge Test in order to attend.  If a proposed trainer fails the test twice, fees will be refunded minus a $30 processing charge.
